Our new Chinese plant, Changzhou 2, is operational! The construction was completed in December and the first teams moved onto the site on January 7. Changzhou 2 is now ramping up and embodies our new industrial model which will eventually be deployed in all the group\u2019s plants.<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The Changzhou 2 project is part of our strategic plan, which intends to increase commercial and operational development in Asia, particularly in China<\/strong>. \u201cWhen we purchased the land in 2019, we were already convinced that an industrial project proportional to the size of the market was necessary. It was very ambitious: we needed a plant capable of manufacturing all the models in the range locally and able to adapt to demand very quickly<\/em>\u201d, explains Patrice M\u00e9tairie, the Industrial Manager.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Sure enough, the new Changzhou 2 plant is indeed unlike any other! It is laid out on 8 hectares – of which 4 hectares are covered and 1 hectare is dedicated to the painting facilities<\/strong> – and will eventually employ 400 people<\/strong>. It has a production capacity of 17,000 machines<\/strong> and can build all the models in the range<\/strong>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Changzhou 2 is now the largest plant in the group. It alone represents 40% of the total production capacity. \u201cThis site is unique in several ways. Firstly because it has an R&D center and a production unit in the same place. Secondly because the Chinese market is substantial but still very young. We don\u2019t known what the best-sellers will be yet,<\/em>\u201d adds Hubert Moreau, Manager of the Changzhou 2 plant.<\/p>

Agility is the watchword on this rapidly expanding market where the major Chinese stakeholders are serious competition. Many of the group\u2019s teams have therefore contributed to developing a new, agile, flexible industrial model for this new site. \u201cFor example, instead of having specific production lines, we have multi-purpose lines to be able to switch from one machine to another. Therefore we had to go right back to the very beginnings of the products in order to standardize the lines.<\/em>\u201d says Hubert Moreau.<\/p>

This considerable research work will benefit the entire group, since the new industrial model will gradually be rolled out in all the plants. \u201cThis forces us to question many things<\/em>,\u201d Patrice M\u00e9tairie reminds us. However, the teams are motivated by the significant implications. We have already scored points! We were among the first in the world to produce all-terrain electric machines and we are digitalizing our offer\u2026 we have solid foundations.<\/em>\u201c\u201d<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The assembly line was transferred from the original Changzhou 1 plant, which closed at the end of April. New lines will be developed up until 2025-2026.<\/strong>
In parallel, the painting production line is ramping up.
Finally, part of the teams who were based in Shanghai have already arrived at the Changzhou 2 site<\/strong>. A smaller office remains active in Shanghai.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
