What was the initial idea?
Ludivine Beraud (Haulotte senior communication manager): This platform is extremely easy to use thanks to its simultaneous movements, proportional controls and its horizontally rotating jib. It was this notion of simplicity that appealed to us all. We have focused our communications materials, particularly our commercial video, on this simple idea: working at height is child’s play with SIGMA 16. We never mention these characteristics and have opted to suggest them through images. To film this video, we made a special scale model of the platform with little building bricks. The analogy between the scale model and the SIGMA 16 platform evokes its ease of use and underlines the performances, agility, safety and ease of maintenance of our new machine
Thierry Granjon (Haulotte Technical Project Manager): The scenario is original in that it features a young boy building and then playing with a platform made of toy bricks. We are a long way from the communications standards of the construction sector!
Thierry Seon (Europe Zone Haulotte Services Manager): Ludivine contacted me in June, 2020 to ask if I would like to take part in the demonstration video for our new SIGMA 16 with one of my sons, because she needed a young “actor” for her scenario. It was Aimery, aged 10, who took part in the video with us. It was something completely new for both of us. It was a thrilling experience. Aimery was very relaxed. It was incredible to discover that together. A wonderful father-son adventure.
How was filming organized?
Ludivine Beraud: Filming took place between November and December 2020. We used six different sites, both indoors and outdoors. We even shot the scenes where Aimery is playing with the scale model in the bedroom of one of my daughters! Aimery was very focused. It was a real pleasure to watch how he performed over the course of filming. He has set the bar very high for future employees who may appear in the next product launches!!
Thierry Granjon: We did different shots highlighting the machine’s performances. For these shots, we used another platform, our HA20 LE PULSEO, that elevates to 20 meters. It meant we could take cameraman on-board for all these aerial shots.
Thierry Seon: It was an opportunity for me to discover what shooting a film involves. It’s a lot of work! We filmed for a whole day with my son Aimery. He can be seen in different configurations with the scale model made of toy building bricks and outside beside a “real” platform. Aimery had a lot of fun and was able to see what his daddy does for a living. We had a great time together. He is very proud. He tells all his friends that he is a Youtuber!
And to sum up?
Ludivine Beraud: We use the idea of building bricks in all our materials, and we also have a competition on social media where people of all ages will have ample opportunity to enjoy themselves creating the platform of the future, why not! I bet that there will be plenty of people reliving their childhood!
Thierry Seon: In short, I can assure you that this machine, the SIGMA 16, really impressed my 10-year-old son. It was a dream come true for him!
