Developing professionally and socially
Six years ago, Dominique Sabot and his team of disabled workers became service providers to Haulotte. It has been a success story that has given a significant role to this “outreach” workshop at the Lorette logistics site in France.
Dominique Sabot explained to us that “the ESAT teams have been neatly integrated into Haulotte’s staff. It has been a source of confidence for some and independence for others.” The supervisor added that since this “outreach” workshop was set up, two extra teams have joined the adventure.
Those workers with disabilities come every day to the Lorette site. Depending on their team, they are responsible for the permanent inventory and keeping the spare part kits fully constituted. “They are trained and know Haulotte’s staff very well. This experience shows that people with disabilities, when supported, trained and encouraged by supervisors, are committed and productive in their work.”
A 3D model rich in senses
Dominique Sabot took a Prior Learning Assessment on his road to becoming a specialized technical instructor. As part of this, he created a 3D model that transcribed the emotions of his workers and the abilities to be supervised.
The outreacH workshop Assists Users with disabilities to battLe prejudices. The gOal of this workshop is to Transmit soft skills and expertise with Tenacity and Empathy.
The model created by Dominique Sabot also conveys the progress of the disabled workers, who have been able to gain independence thanks to their work. He told us that “the workshop allows people with a disability to develop professionally and socially. Mutual trust is formed and I am still grateful to the managers at Haulotte for believing in this wonderful joint venture.”
