Haulotte at XR DAY’S
On June 14-15, Haulotte attended XR DAY’S: an event dedicated to how businesses can use augmented reality, virtual reality and mixed reality. The event was organized by a group of companies called the Industrial Hive. We demonstrated the tools we have to offer and learned about some inspiring solutions that could help us with the roll-out of our roadmap.
Haulotte joined the Industrial Hive at the start of this year. This Lyon-based association seeks to pool skills together to help businesses transform themselves. “This is not a commercial relationship, we are here to share common problems and work on them together,” explained Antoine Navarro, Digital Validation and Simulation Engineer.
On this basis, the Industrial Hive organized XR DAY’S at its USIN site, a former brownfield owned by the Bosch Group. At XR DAY’S, visitors could study use cases, receive feedback and watch augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR) and mixed reality (MR) demonstrations.
Virtual Reality – a Tool for the Everyday!
At the Haulotte stand, everyone was able to see how virtual reality is becoming important in the design of new machinery. “We use this tool to share and validate the design with all departments involved – marketing, manufacturing, maintenance, regulation and so on. The idea is for everyone to be able to add their feedback so we can create the most polished equipment possible without going through numerous prototypes.”
Visitors, with a virtual reality headset on, were able to try out the application and check out the equipment at actual scale. The public showed enthusiasm for this demonstration and immediately understood the benefits of virtual reality: simple to set up with great value-added potential. “We received the contact details of interested companies looking for more advice and precise information. Our solution is highly practical – it’s what they’re looking for.”
But the XR DAY’S trade show was also very inspiring for Haulotte! “Our exhibition was alongside huge names like Volvo Trucks and Airbus Helicopters. It gave us a sense that we had come into our own in this field. We were also able to learn about some interesting applications. The businesses on show are part of the Industrial Hive and we know we can get in touch with them as we move along our roadmap to ‘become a digital company.’”
In short, two intense days with promising opportunities!
