Ambition 2025: getting the information out there
To better grasp how every person can contribute to Ambition 2025, all employees will be attending a seminar on this topic. On the agenda are workshops and discussions that will help everyone see how they can make their own contribution to the strategy.
The launch of Ambition 2025 last April was an opportunity to get some feedback on how the previous strategic plan was perceived. “It turned out that the plan in 2019 was not properly communicated to all employees and many of them did not feel like they contributed to it,” David Alviani, Project Management Director, recounted.
Working from this observation, flow-down seminars have been scheduled so the new strategic plan can be better communicated. “The Executive Committee held a seminar with those directly reportable to it and they in turn organized a seminar with their subordinates. And this will continue until all employees in the Group will have participated in a seminar by the end of Q1 2023,” explained Didier Grivel, Empowerment Director.
Finding meaning by being a part of it
Before attending their seminar, all teams are encouraged to watch a video made by the Executive Committee and read a presentation document. The day of the seminar begins with an exchange on how everyone feels about Ambition 2025. Then, employees participate in workshops and roleplays focused on the company’s mission, values, vision and challenges.
They also prepare a small task on a strategic action that they identify with. According to David Alviani, “The goal of these meetings is to allow each person to see how they fit in with everyday activities and find out how they can contribute to the strategic plan.”
The feedback for the first seminars and the tools used have been very positive. Staff have enjoyed having this time for reflection and exchanges. It helps them understand the strategic challenges more fully.
This way of working has also won the trust of managers, who have taken great delight in adopting a different posture. “Here we meet our empowering leadership model, where the manager can direct and steer the teams to decide for themselves,” Didier Grivel clarified.
The goal of these information flow-down seminars is to encourage each department to see how they fit in to the strategic plan and can contribute. They enable every person to feel invested, which is one step toward a successful Ambition 2025.
“If we want everyone to be empowered to make a daily contribution to the company’s strategy, we need to ensure everyone knows about the project, that the conditions are there to question and challenge the links between decisions, project requirements, and the vision,” Didier Grivel concluded.
