Company seeks maintenance technicians
The Industrial Hive, a business collective that Haulotte joined at the start of the year, is providing us with new resources to find innovative solutions. One example in relation to hiring is job dating, which the group participated in last June.
“We currently have a real problem in recruiting maintenance technicians. There’s a scarcity of them in France and Europe. Even schools are having difficulty in finding people,” explained Tracy Grimaud, Human Resources Manager at the Saint Priest site (France).
To meet this need that is shared by all industrial companies, the Industrial Hive organized a job dating event for June 23 at its headquarters in Vénissieux, France. The concept? Meet as many applicants as possible in the shortest amount of time. The value of this event was also in the profile of applicants: “this job dating was targeted at maintenance technicians. The Industrial Hive chose people who were interested in the work or were already specialized in it.”
Getting the Employer Brand Out There
Tracy Grimaud introduced herself and two operational managers, Cédric Fiorini and Yannick Trotot, to the job daters, and they fielded any technical questions from the applicants. “They were well-received; it was their chance to promote their profession. They’ve seen the problems encountered in recruitment.”
Finding or training maintenance technicians is an investment for the Group which has put service at the core of its strategy. “It’s something that sets us apart for our customers, there are real challenges in finding these technicians.” For this reason, Tracy Grimaud has ramped up actions, including talks in schools, and attendance at trade shows and forums. All these initiatives make the public aware of Haulotte. “People are well aware of our customers, Loxam or Kiloutou for example, but they don’t make the connection between Haulotte and the machines.”
The Industrial Hive received very positive feedback on the job dating event. “There will surely be other initiatives for other industrial jobs. It’s motivating and promising – we have the chance to make wonderful products and a wonderful company. We have to grab these types of opportunities to get our name out to the general public,” Tracy concluded.
